One of the most anticipated series of the Major League Baseball season took place over the weekend when the New York Yankees took on the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. It was a meeting between two of the most famous and legendary teams in professional sports. The series lacked a lot of drama in terms of the playoff race. This is because both teams had locked up their respective divisions a long time ago. However, it is still a very special thing whenever both of these teams play against each other. There is a very good chance that they will be seeing each other again in October in the World Series. The Dodgers have played in the Fall Classic the past two years. They were defeated both times.
The Yankees won the first and last games in the three game series. In the Sunday night finale, New York was able to get the best of the great Clayton Kershaw and win the game 5-1. Kershaw pitched well despite suffering his third loss of the season. His record is now 13-3. He allowed only three earned runs in seven innings of work. All three runs he allowed were solo home runs. He walked none and compiled a dozen strikeouts.
Domingo Germán picked up his 17th win of the year against only three defeats. He has been a huge weapon for the Yankees this season. The starting rotation for the Yankees has been in shambles for much of the year due to injuries or guys not performing up to their usual standards. This is why Domingo was been such a huge asset. He has been one of the few starting pitchers that New York has been able to rely on over the course of the 2019 season.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone was very happy with the way his team played against a very talented Dodger team that has the best record in the National League. He said that this series will give his team great confidence if they meet the Dodgers in the World Series like many people think they will. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts remained upbeat despite the disappointing series loss. He said that he would be more upset if the series meant something to his team. However, the rest of the year is just about getting ready for the playoffs and making sure everyone is prepared for the big games ahead.
