The Mad Titan Thanos has come to Earth to smash his way through all of its assembled heroes, and he has already smashed through six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s movies, equaling their entire domestic grosses in the course of a single weekend.

From Thursday night early opening until Sunday night, Anvengers: Infinity War made $250 million in the United States. This gives the epic movie the largest three-day opening weekend in North America ever, and also the second biggest opening day ever, after only Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In other words, according to Box Office Mojo, Infinity War has, in only three days, gotten more money in the United States than The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: The First Avenger, Ant-Man, Thor, Thor: The Dark World and Doctor Strange did in their entire run. It should easily surpass Captain America: The Winter Solder by Monday, since that film made $259 million domestically.

And keep in mind, all of that is only in the United States. The movie has already made $630 million worldwide, and that is before it has even opened in the huge Chinese market. At this rate it is almost unquestionable that it will surpass the last MCU entry, Black Panther, as the highest-grossing superhero movie of all time. (Black Panther made $1.33 billion worldwide.)

Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the entire MCU up until now. Balancing an astounding 80 characters from every previous movie in the franchise, it features the villain Thanos, an alien of tremendous power, as he comes to Earth in search of the powerful Infinity Stones. This has been teased since 2012’s The Avengers, and which fans have been eagerly anticipating for years.

This is a major turning point for the MCU, but it is not the end. After the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain America, next year will have a fourth Avengers film following up on this one. While the former two movies will probably be more lowkey, could Avengers 4 manage to outdo even this juggernaut at the box office? Only time will tell, but until then, it looks like Infinity War is going to be reigning supreme over any and all competition.
