Men and women’s life expectancies will be the same by the year 2032. This is the first time in history that this has happened since people began taking records. A woman who gets married at the age of 30 can expect to enjoy 58 more years of her life with her husband. The reason that the life expectancy difference between men and women is narrowing is because fewer men are smoking.
Smoking rates were highest after World War II. Eighty percent of men smoked, and 40 percent of women smoked. Men have an easier time quitting than women. Only 16 percent of men smoke today. Professor Les Mayhew is the statistics expert who works at Cass Business School. He stated that the life expectancy of men and women has not been equivalent since 1841.
Baroness Greengoss works for the International Longevity Centre UK. She stated that the results of this study are promising because it means that people will have more years to enjoy with their spouse. However, she has also stated that people need to choose their spouse wisely because they will be with them for a long time.
The life expectancy difference between men and women has been narrowing for the past 150 years. In 1969, women lived an average of five years longer than men. Today, women only live 2.5 years longer than men.
The top 5 percent of women live to see their 98th birthday. The bottom 10 percent did not live to the age of 70. Improvements in hygiene and mass vaccination were the reason that life expectancy increased in the early 20th century. However, this is not something that you can rely on today.
You have to do your part to increase your life expectancy. You can add years to your life by exercising and eating right.
