Some might argue that he was perhaps the sexiest James Bond ever. That is why it is with heavy hearts that the world bids good-bye to a cinematic legend.
Roger Moore has passed away in Switzerland following a brief fight with cancer at age 89. The handsome star was said to be surrounded by family and friends in his last days, and that there was a lot of love in the room, right up to the last breath he took.
While funeral plans are being developed, it’s been reported that the British actor will lay in eternity in Monaco, where he resided with his fourth wife Kristina Tholstrup.
Actor Michael Caine, a longtime close friend of Moore, was devastated by his death, saying that the world would never be the same place again.
Moore was knighted by the Queen in 2003. He happened to appear in more Bond movies than any other actor. There were seven to his credit, including A View to a Kill; Octopussy; Live and Let Die; The Man With the Golden Gun; Moonraker; The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only.
The British secret agent he played was dashing and always the smoothest Bond with the ladies. Roger Moore had taken over the movie role after Sean Connery, and when Moore left the role, the franchise went to the new Bond, Timothy Dalton.
Although Roger Moore is perhaps best known around the world for being James Bond, his family says his best piece of work was with a famous charity. Moore’s children Deborah, Geoffrey and Cristian all reveal that it was their father’s work with UNICEF that gave him the greatest joy and achievement.
Roger Moore continued working up until his death. The star was most recently in public on stage at London’s Royal Festival Hall in November 2016.
Giving back to his community and being a humanitarian are what made Roger Moore extra special beyond the silver screen, says actress Jane Seymour, who starred with Bond in Live and Let Die.
