No Need To Be Annoying

We have all experienced fidgeting in one way or another. Whether you fidget yourself or have seen other people fidgeting. Fidgeting is simply the act of making small movements, especially of the hands and feet, through nervousness or impatience. The most common ways of fidgeting are by clicking a pen, bouncing legs, nail biting or ring spinning. This can be extremely annoying to other people and seen as unprofessional at the workplace. The problem is that some people just can’t seem to control their fidgeting. It seems to get worse during long work meetings, school lectures, boring commutes or when watching TV.

Fidget Cube Embraces Fidgeting

Fidgeting is often perceived as being negative but multiple studies suggest otherwise. Part of the mission at Antsy Labs is to change the way people see fidgeting and spread knowledge. Fidgeting in most cases help people relieve stress, anxiety and even focus better. It has to do with something scientists call “floating attention”. By fidgeting, you are keeping that floating attention occupied which in return helps you focus better on the task at hand. A recent study proved students who fidget performed better on tests than those who were required to sit still. That’s the power of fidgeting for you. Take a look at the prescription commercial mocking and sarcastic promotional video from Antsy Labs.

The Fidget Cube was created by two brothers Matthew and Mark McLachlan from Antsy Labs. The vinyl toy has six sides (Click, Glide, Flip, Breathe, Roll, and Spin). Each side has a mechanism to satisfy your fidgeting. The Click side has five clicker buttons including two silent ones. Glide side has a small joystick. The Flip side has a switch which can be pressed back and forth. On the Breathe side, it has the effect of a worry stone which can be rubbed to reduce stress. On the Roll side, it includes a set of gears and ball. The Spin side has a spinning dial. It is guaranteed to satisfy the urge to fidget. The Fidget Cube is only available for pre-order at the moment and expected to ship February 2017. But knockoffs for a fraction of the price can already be purchased here for less than $8 bucks.

I use to work with a guy at a help desk that couldn’t stop fidgeting and touching stuff on other people’s desk. People like that need multiple cubes. They ruin lives.
