Closest Thing To Flying
Mankind has always been fascinated with the idea of flying. Hoverboarding has been the closest that we have come to it. In recent years we have seen ground hoverboards being sold everywhere. Even though it’s a rather expensive product people can’t stop buying them. We have also seen the videos of the water jet pack flyboard. Although this type of flyboard allows you to go up to 45 feet, you are still attached to a watercraft through a long hose. This type of flyboard is obviously also dependent on water and can’t be flown everywhere. Well, Zapata Racing has taken the flyboard to the next level with the Flyboard Air.
Introducing The Flyboard Air
The flyboard was invented by a french watercraft rider, Franky Zapata. He is also the CEO of Zapata Racing. Zapata Racing is the company that has been making flyboards since 2012. This year they invented the Flyboard Air which has already broken a Guinness World Record for farthest flight by hoverboard. Zapata himself traveled using a Flyboard Air over 7200 feet at an average speed of 35 miles per hour. The new model is not dependent on a hose or water allowing you the freedom to fly everywhere. So far all the videos shown have been flying over water for safety reasons. Take a look at Zapata breaking the Guinness World Record.
How Does It Work?
When the video was first released a lot of people thought it was a hoax. They could not believe or accept that this technology was made possible. The Flyboard Air has a total of six turbo engines, four inside the board and two on the sides for stabilization. The flyboard also provides stabilization by using configured algorithms. Each inside engine provides a total of 250 horsepower making it 1000 horsepower. You control the turbo engines through a remote control. The backpack is basically full of Jet A1 fuel that is used by the flyboard. Zapata claims the Flyboard Air can go up to 10,000 feet and reach a maximum speed of 93 mph.
Future Plans
Zapata Racing is already in the process of creating a second machine. They had not anticipated the amount of attention from the media and the general public. Multiple companies have already contacted them to make a deal. The U.S army has also expressed interest. The new machine will be easier to use for the general public. Not much information has been disclosed at the moment. The current Flyboard Air requires at least 100 hours of practice on the water jetpack Flyboard to be able to use it. I am looking forward to seeing what the second machine will look like. This might just be the beginning of the closest thing to flying that we will ever experience.

This is really cool. I’ve seen video before. I would love to have one of these, no matter the price
I don’t see this coming out for everyone anytime soon. Too many idiots out there.
Can’t wait for the consumer version
Wow this is epic. I would so buy one as soon as it’s available. I am sure it’s going to be expensive but what the hell you only live once!
Its amazing for what looks to be a small company to be able to come up with such an invention.
Give it 10 years and the army will be using these with m16s
10k feet up in the air seems kind of high to be riding on this thing. We need a Flyboard that allows you to fly like superman.
I agree I can see a lot of people going crazy and killing themselves using this thing.
It’s cool , but i for see a bunch of idiots killing them self on this, it’s inevitable
This is super cool they just need to make it affordable for everyone to be able to purchase.
