A common objective for fashion design is to make practical and comfortable clothing. With the increasing popularity of men’s fashion, there has been an increase in men’s sportswear and casual wear. Men have embraced this new trend but have not thought much about how their clothes are designed or what they think of them.

How men think of men’s clothing

Formality

Men’s fashion today is all about comfort and style. Clothes need natural materials such as cotton, wool, and silk to keep them warm and comfortable. More men are turning to casual wear in the workplace, such as jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers, instead of business suits. As a result, trips to the tailor or dry cleaner have become less frequent for most men.

Color

To attract the attention of women, men pay close attention to color. Women tend to prefer clothing that is dark and rich in color. Men don’t have a problem with this because their wardrobe is filled with dark-colored clothing.

Pattern and stitching

Men are less likely to buy clothes with complicated patterns or stitching designs. Since fashion design is not essential to men’s lives, most men don’t mind simple patterns or stitching designs in their clothing (except for formal wear).

Fit

Men are well aware that their clothes should fit properly. They leave their wardrobe in the closet until it fits well and after a short visit to the tailor or dry cleaner. Men will never forget a neat pair of pants once they get them properly fitted to their body shape and size.

Serviceability

Men appreciate serviceability in their clothing because they don’t like leaving their wardrobe in the closet until it is dry-cleaned or mended when it’s ripped or torn. This kind of clothing needs maintenance. Men understand that when they have to spend a lot of money and time on maintenance, it is most likely not an exceptional quality piece of clothing.

Value

Men appreciate clothing made in a way that it can be used for multiple seasons and occasions. For example, men keep multiple suits that are used for different formal and casual events and occasions. Men also know when to throw away old clothes that are too worn out or torn because there is no need for them anymore.

Social influences

Men are more likely to try new trends and styles of clothes. They will even buy designer clothes or high-end fashion if they see it on other men that they want to look like. Most men buy the same brands that their friends and family wear, but a few guys will shop alone because something about a particular brand or clothing style appeals to their personality.
